Google Analytics & Content

So overall, Dr. Kelsey’s CASA Marketing: Intro to Google Analytics is about measuring results and taking a look at how websites are performing.  Through Google Analytics, there are many ways to view information.  Some of the tools that Google Analytics are as follows: sessions, users, page views, session duration, etc.  A huge thing to remember: adding content that is relevant and important to your audience.  That way, viewers will spend more time on looking at your content.  This also helps in measuring the accuracy of an average session duration.

Google Analytics: Trafficking & Promoting

In chapter 3 of CASA Marketing: Intro to Google Analytics, readers learn about getting traffic through Google Analytics.  There are several ways to obtain traffic.  Obtaining traffic can be achieved through the use of social media and the use of Hootsuite.  Specifically with social media, you want to make posts that are intriguing to the viewer.  Additionally, to get more views and attention from people, you have the option of promoting, or paying for your posts to get more views.  For example, if you post on Facebook, you can promote your posts for a certain cost per day.  If you view the table of contents on this blogger site, you can click on “Social Media Marketing” and find a social media campaign that I created.  (Or you can access it here: http://rebeccajwatson.blogspot.com/2015/12/social-media-campaign.html)  It basically shows the results of promoting an organization’s page and the analytics, or results of how successful it was. Essentially, every time a person views your post or page, you will receive data showing the results.

Blogging & Google Analytics

A basic way to get started with Google Analytics is to get your foot in the door so that you are able to track web traffic. In chapter two of Dr. Kelsey’s CASA Marketing: Intro to Google Analytics, there is a lot of discussion regarding the importance of blogging, which is a great way to get your foot in the door to experimenting with Google Analytics.

Specifically, in this chapter, you learn to develop your own blogger and how Google Analytics allows you to track how it is doing, etc. For example, I can use this blogger account that I am posting from and add it to Google Analytics tracking options. This allows me to see how successful my blog is doing and how many people are visiting the blogger.

Google Analytics & Digital/Online Marketing

Google Analytics is a crucial aspect within both social media marketing and digital/online marketing.  In social media marketing, it is key for marketers to understand how to measure and optimize the performance of social media campaigns – simply put, social analytics.  Digital/online marketing also has an importance for web analytics because it assists in monitoring how your online marketing efforts are going.  In addition, web analytics helped Dr. Kelsey to understand how online marketing and how reports fit into overall business intelligence, or ROI.

So, how does the performance of websites fit into a business?  We can find out by learning on using a top tool, Google Analytics.  Google Analytics is free and is a great place to start…

Intro to Web Analytics… Introducing Google Analytics!

Analytics, specifically web analytics is becoming more and more important, as it assists in tracking return on investment, in addition to allowing online marketers optimize their websites.  Dr. Todd Kelsey, author of CASA Marketing: Intro to Google Analytics, explains in his book his experiences with learning about analytics and how learning it can have a significant influence on your career.  Of course, analytics may come off as a bunch of numbers, but in the end, it’s not about the numbers, rather it is about the people.

Finding Your Mission in Life

What is our mission in life?  Will any of us really ever know?  What are we good at?  What does each of us enjoy?  What were we born to do?  I think that it is a valid statement that each and everyone of us will ponder these questions at some point in their life.

What is a mission?  Personally, when I think about the word mission, I think about religion and what I was called to do by God. Religious or not, mission is something that relates to all of us. So, backing away from the religious aspect of the term mission, here are three things I know for sure will help in your search for your mission in life...
  1. You have talents that you are meant to utilize in this life.  Find your greatest talent and put it to use!
  2. You may use these talents in the places/settings that most appeal to you.
  3. In some way or another, these talents will benefit the world.

Now in more religious terms,
  1. Your mission on earth is to seek to stand hour by hour in the conscious presence of God, the One from whom your Mission is derived.
  2. Your second mission is to do what you can, moment by moment, day by day, step by step, to make this world a better place, following the leading and guidance of God's Spirit within you and around you.
  3. Similar to what I said above, your mission is to exercise the Talent that you particularly came to Earth to use - your greatest gift, which you most delight to use, in the place(s) or setting(s) that God has caused to appeal to you the most, and for those purposes that God most needs to have done in the world.
Here's the thing, religious or not religious, finding your mission is all the same.  It is about finding yourself and what you are meant to do in this life.  Once we find what our passion and determine our mission, it will be much easier in finding the careers and jobs that make us happy because we are doing the things that we like to do.  And to me, that is the most important thing in life: happiness.

Social Media Campaign

Learning about social media is more effective when you just dive right in.  That is exactly what I did when creating a social media campaign.  The idea was to create a Facebook advertisement, determine who the intended audience was, create a budget and run time for the advertisement, and then wait for the results.

My objective in running this ad was to promote awareness about a not-for-profit organization called Miracles in Progress.  I wanted the ad to essentially lead people to the Miracles in Progress website so that people can become more aware of the organization and learn more information.

Below, you will find a short presentation about this campaign, the background, the budget, and the results.  Enjoy!
